yes i'm aware that it is the 9th of March. i have found 0 motivation to write this earlier - my ass got kicked by exams during the whole month, i had a terrible headache for two entire weeks because of the covid booster, and february wans't a very exciting month in general (except for my birthday, because i love my birthday, but i hate that it falls in the middle of exam season. i can't wait to be done with uni so this doesn't happen anymore)
i'm back to following lectures (supposedly my last semester EVER, fingers crossed) but fortunately i'm far less busy than during the winter months. days are getting longer and life is generally improving. i'm happier. every year i am shocked when the added daylight improves my mood as if it were something new. it's funny, mostly because i'm stupid.
under the cut a few things that i enjoyed during the awful month that was february
i haven't consumed many things as you probably gathered from my intro. but still.
movies
- cruella: had so much fun watching it. emma stone is a gem, i loved her performance and all the costumes she was put into throughout the entire movie. the plot is nothing too eleborate but i enjoyed it nonetheless and it was for the gals and the non-binary pals. puppies were so cute too :(
books
- she who became the sun: i finally finished it and boy oh boy. the brainworms that i caught. i wrote this little thingy because i could not for the life of me keep all those thought inside my head, and it's funny because i didn't really like ouyang as a character for the most part of the book but towards the end my love for him grew and grew and now i need the second book to know how his adventure will continue. also wang baoxiang my beloved. also my lovely sapphics are so good and lfkgjdlfg just read this book!! it's a bit slow in the beginning phase but after that the pace picks up and mwah. it's so good.
music
- viviz, bop bop: oh what a debut. this song is fresh and makes me so happy, and i'm so glad to see eunha again (and umji and sinb as well, but you'll pardon me since eunha is my baby). i love the choreo, i love the outfits, i love that they dressed up as the colors of the bi flag lol i love them!!!!
- taeyeon, invu: the clever llittle pun in the title is incredible and i enjoy the chorus so much. she's a goddess and the concept and outfits for the mv are so beautiful ugh
- stayc, run2u: earworm. i'm literally Obsessed. i don't know how many times i've replayed this song but i just love it so fucking much. i love the rhythm and the girls' delivery of every single line. the switch between the verse and the chorus isn't too abrupt as it tends to be in 4th gen music these days and i just would like to drown in the vocals. the rap section is perfection. such a BOP.
- jk & suga, stay alive: what can i even say about this one. jk's voice is always incredible and yoongi's production can never fail. everything he touches becomes gold and this makes no exception. the strings, the crescendo in the prechorus, the lyrics that are so SAD and go perfectly with the music. hyyh yoonkook are back and i was not ready for them to show up like this. side note: this is the proof that bts still have it in them to deliver heartfelt little gems and i wish they were free to make this kind of music in their albums again. not to be an annoying old hag but i do miss the old bts a little bit. but as allie said, i don't need sad songs, i would love to have some dark stuff that is simply horny. i think they're in the age in which they could deliver it perfectly. please make classy horny dark bts a thing. patiently waiting for their next comeback :)
- charli cxc & vernon & AG cook & rina sawayama, beg for you: i wasn't a big fan of this song, but this remixxxx this remix is fire. vernon's voice goes perfectly with it and it's so cute to see him so excited in working with charli. i love when my kpop people are successful fans. deserved!!! vernon you're so vernon (affectionate) <3
- boyfriend, dove cameron: bisexual anthem. thanks tiktok for this discovery. i love this girl SO much she's everything. this song is so sexy i don't really have words for it.
- blanco & mamhood, brividi: ever since the first listen, this song made shivers (brividi means shivers in italian eheh) run down my spine. blanco and mamhood's voices go so well together, the lyrics are perfectly somber and go so well with the music. i love when the drums kick in at the beginning of the second verse together with blanco's voice, it's such a special little moment. to think he's litereally just 18. crazy.
- ditonellapiaga & rettore, chimica: ADRENALINIC. i don't have much to say about this song it just makes me want to dance.
- rovere, dalla terra a marte: indie music makes me happy. this album is simply coherent within itself, i love the recurring space themes throughout it (the title means "from earth to mars") and there are a few songs that really touched my heart. these boys are improving a lot!! i haven't decided yet on a favourite song but there's a few that i will for sure go back to times and times again (dalla terra a marte, astronauta, la libertà).
(so excited for new kihyun and red velvet music coming up in march aaaaaaaa can't wait for this month media roundup!!)
games:
- pokèmon legends arceus (yes, again): literally the best pokèmon game EVER. it's so good. the new dynamics are so much fun, it's harder than any pokèmon game released so far (had to redo a couple of bosses more than once) and it's just so enjoyable. graphics can for sure improve, but that makes me very hopeful for the new games coming out at the end of the year. hopefully some of the problems i encountered in this game will be solved there. the plot makes up for the graphics tho imho. gamefreak finally made it!!
i want to talk a bit more about books and fics in the near future. hopefully i'll manage.
