It's the last day of january, even though it feels like I've lived three lifetimes ever since the year started. why is it always like that? every time a new year starts, it feels like the first days pass in a blur and then it takes Forever for the month to end. god.

anyways. i have an exam tomorrow and i'm procrastinating going through my notes to revise by writing this media roundup for the month. yay me!!! i hate the winter exam session, it's so damn tiring for no reason whatsoever. the wheather doesn't help, it's cold and rainy and i hate it here. can't wait for spring to come, as my dear friends bts once said.

under the cut some musings and some recs <3

these are in no particular order, and i'm not giving ratings, just my personal thoughts :) - no major spoilers ahead, don't you worry.

tv shows
- the witcher season 2: i liked season one A Lot, and i'm still very much obsessed with the Geralt/Renfri fight in episode one, but!! season two was really good for me. i enjoyed Ciri's growth, i enjoyed Geralt's journey in becoming a cool dad <3 and Yennefer finally carved her way into my heart. it took a while, but i like her now. as usual, costumes and general settings are sooo pretty and perfect. and the final plot twist me got me sooooo good. ugh. + the music!! speaking of which, oh Jaskier, my beloved. he's my favourite character. little bastard.
- agents of shield (rewatch): i'm currently rewatching aos with my dear friend kathi and the more i watch it, the more i appreciate this show. the women in this show are all incredibly badass and oh so capable and so very cool. they love and hate and they're just so well rounded ;-; i adore this show more and more with every episode that i rewatch. it deserved better!
- the wheel of time: i stopped at episode 4 and didn't have time to watch more; i think that if read the books before watching it, i would have probably liked it more. so far i don't feel any particular connection to the characters, and that's why i'm being so slow in going through it. it's not bad, it just doesn't strike a chord with me. will let you know if i finish the first season or not.

books
- iron widow: oh boy. oooooooooooooh boy. ok. i'm OBSESSED with this book. i finished it in maybe 10 hours, it was so compelling and just so good. i think i will have to write a separate post about it sometime soon, when i'll probably reread it just for the sake of it. i have to thank wren for giving me a push in the right direction, because i kept seeing it everywhere on tiktok but i wasn't feeling like reading anything. and yet i'm so glad i did. the society commentary, the witty writing, the triangulation!!!! the gender talk!!!!!!! god. everything is so perfect and the author comissions memes for it. they're a genius and i'm so deeply in love with this story, with the way the portrayed this world, and how they gave life to their characters. deeply recommended if you like fantasy and enemies to lovers and friends to lovers and... go give it a read, i promise you you'll love it. (and that ending... ugh. UGH)
- she who became the sun: on a similar but very different note with iw, this book has taken me a whole month to be finished (and i have still 80 pages left). don't get me wrong, it's good. the main characters are so flawed and they feel so real and tangible, and here too the gender discourse is so incredibly well done and seen from different povs. the prose is a bit less flowy i think, compared to iw at least, and there are some parts that just don't move fast enough (even though they fit into the plot). i would have loved to see more of Lord Wang My Beloved. maybe second book. will say more when i actually finish!! but the queer-ness of it all is very good and some sentences bonked me on the head so hard, good lord. i recommend this one too, but keep in mind it has no fantasy elements, in case you were looking for that.

music
- yuju, [rec.]: what an ep!!!!!!! every song is perfect, but my personal favourite is The Killa. yuju's voice is just so beautiful and i'm so glad she got to have her solo debut. deserved truly.
- drippin, villain: just a good 'ol boy group song. love the bass. gets me hype.
- woozi, ruby: she's so sexyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. ok but i know we said woozi fucks, yet i wasn't expecting this kind of song from his solo "debut". i love everything about and i wish she was just a tad longer. the piano... the guitar... jihoon is a genius and i want to kiss him on that big  brain of his.
- taeyeon, can't control myself: the mv is so fucking pretty and her voice... her voice is always so marvellous. i love the lyrics as well.
- wjsn chocome, super yuppers: serotonin booster. if you're not listening to it rn, then what are you even doing? no but truly, love how fun of a song this one is, it's just so bouncy and smile-inducing. and dayoung is having the time of her life on it, which is amazing!! i love her!!
- kepler, mvsk: i still don't understand why they didn't debut with this one. she's so sexy and unexpected and i love her. a bop
- pentagon, the game: despite the fact that i like the title track (i like it, but i don't love it) the game is just so fucking cool. with its little opera moments, and the strings at the back, and the deep bass. ugh. for me? for me! (so happy jinho is back, i missed his voice in pentagon's songs)

games:
- pokèmon legends arceus: i've played this game for two days but if anything happened to it i would kill everybody and then myself. it's so good ;-; i'm having SO MUCH FUN playing it and i understand the people being annoyed by the graphics not being very good, but listen. i personally don't care. the pokemons are ADORABLE and the story is so interesting. it's just a lot of fun to play and i'm having a blast. will report more when i get to the end of it, for now it passes the bar with flying colours. if a game isn't fun, then what are you playing it for???

talked too much but somehow it feels like not enough anyways. see you soon my beloveds <3 i will come back with some iron widow in-depth commentary when i actually have the time for it.
